Robertson Agricultural Services
Robertson Agricultural Services was established in 1991. lnitially providing cultivation and drilling contracting services to farmers in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Those services still remain the core business today although machinery and techniques have changed keeping pace with our agricultural industry. Also, adapting and diversifying has also played a part in keeping the business successful since it first started 30 years ago! About
Robertson Agricultural Services is based near Abingdon. From there we cover West Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Cultivations and drilling is our core business. However, the business has also diversified and now includes services like landfill site grass seeding, sports playing filed restoration work, grass cutting and hedge cutting on non-agricultural sites. Also tractor and tanker hire for soak away testing.
Apart from the obvious requirement of carrying any contract work to a high standard. The business is also built around very good communication skills. We understand that at certain times of the year when we are all very busy and working with weather windows (especially in the Autumn) good communication is key. Keeping in contact giving peace of mind is just as important as carrying out a quality job. In a nut shell we have a very simple ethos; If you have a requirement for a contractor then will will do the best job possible for you. If we are helping you make money then that hopefully mean you will want to use us again and that keeps us in a job!
If there is a service you require but is not listed please do still contact me as I can probably still organise it for you.

We have used Robertson Agricultural Services for many years and Dominic's contracting business is an integral part of our farm policy. Dominic deals with our primary cultivation and drilling work. His attention to detail is great and I would highly recommend him.

Paul Caudwell, Dropshort Farm, Abingdon, Oxon
A number of years ago we changed our policy which meant we looked to out source our drilling work. Dominic of Robertson Agricultural Services was recommended to us and I can see why. He has the right equipment, a cheerful disposition and get the job done. I like that because it gives me peace of mind as I am not on the farm all the time.
Richard Binning, Hill Farm, Steventon, Oxon
Robertson Agricultural Services have been members of the Thames and Kennet Machinery Ring for over 20 years. Within that time most of the work Dominic has carried out for other ring members has been drilling work. It is not unusual if there is reapeat work the following year that the member asks for the same supplier. That is very much the case with Dominic who has a lot of repeat business. I think that speaks volumes of the quality of his work.
Michael Brown, Thames and Kennet Machinery Ring
We are an extremely busy sheep, beef and arable farm. We undertake most of the work ourselves. However, at certain pinch points we do need help especially at harvest time. We use Dominic with his Vaderstad drill to drill all our stubble turnips, grass and other crops while we are busy combining, baling and carting straw. He is very reliable and always does a good job.

We are a specialist seeding company ranging from hydroseeding to conventional seeding. Anything from motorway banks to landfill sites. We first used Dominic 10 years ago. His scale of machinery was better suited for seeding a large area of ground being returned to grass following a road bypass building project. Since then, we have used him on several projects. More recently for grass seeding capped off landfill site. He is our go to person when large output equipment is required.
James Thomson, CDTS LTD
We have a number of pitches at our club. The issue we have is our pitch areas are established on reclaimed landfill site. Over the years the ground has moved causing a few ridges and dips. In 2017 we started a program to deal with this. Starting with the worst effected 7 aside pitch. No funding was available at that time so the club financed the work. A costly full blown restoration was out the question so a half way measure was required.  We approached Dominic who was very convincing on the job he could do for us and he did not let us down. Fast forward to this year (2021) by which time we had got the FA funding to restore the final 9 and 5 a-side pitches. Robertson Agricultural Services took on this work knowing that funds would only get released if the work passed a FA pitch inspection. The job carried out by Dominic was excellent. He removed all the topsoil from both pitches and ran it through a screener removing stones large than 25 mm. He then hired in a bulldozer with a laser guided blade and level the base. Put the screened topsoil back out and laser leveled that and re-seeded it. needless to say it passed its pitch inspection with flying colours. This type of work is another string to his bow. We just admire his positive can do attitude.
